Frequently Implied Questions

Here are some questions that, rather than having been asked outright, seem to be implicit in some e-mails we have received. We will continue to update this page as we see fit.

Is it all right to submit short fiction to you, despite the fact that you explicitly state in your submission guidelines that you do not, in fact, publish short fiction and are strictly a poetry 'zine?

No.

Not even if it doesn't fit your other guidelines at all, in any way, shape or form?

Hmm... No.

"Jessica" and "Jennifer" are very similar names, aren't they? It's totally understandable to mix them up within the same e-mail, isn't it?

Well, not really. When you think about it, they only have three letters and one syllable in common. Is it usual to mix up "Minerva" and "Michelle"?

Oh, come on. Isn't Jessica secretly named Jennifer? Isn't it more appropriate that I address her as Jennifer Wick, the better to draw out her secret and truest self?

No. No, it really isn't. Her name seriously is Jessica. We're not kidding.

Is Amal a man's name?

No. We know it's confusing for people who grew up with Amahl and the Night Visitors, but it's gender neutral pretty much to the extent that "Hope" is in English. Contrary to popular belief, Amal El-Mohtar is a woman. Mr. El-Mohtar is her father. He is not an editor of Goblin Fruit. Please stop addressing submissions to him.
