Godmother

by Anna Marie Catoir

Do you want to see
apple cores, spindles, and thorns
accumulated over years?

I’ll show you slippers
Of fur and silk, gold and glass
Shredded, shattered, tossed

Collecting what’s left
The enchanted dross and leez
This too is my work.
